📘 What Is the CFA Deferral Policy?
The CFA Institute allows candidates to defer their exam to the next available window only under certain circumstances, such as:
- Medical emergencies (for you or immediate family)
- Personal emergencies (death in family, natural disasters, etc.)
- Military deployment
- COVID-19 or other serious illness (with documentation)
You must submit supporting documents within 10 calendar days of the exam window ending.

- Deferral requests are not guaranteed — CFA Institute must approve them.
- Submitting false documentation can lead to candidacy termination.
- No refund is given — the exam is rescheduled to a future date.
- You must choose a new exam window within 12 months of the original date.
